Shippensburg University FOundation online Privacy Policy

Welcome to the Shippensburg University Foundation website. Your right to privacy is very important to us, therefore the SU Foundation has created an online privacy policy.

The SU Foundation is committed to building positive, high-trust relationships with our donors and prospective donors; providing performance excellence; and operating with the highest ethical standards. The SU Foundation has a duty to protect the confidentiality of private, non-public donor information. Respect for a donor's right to privacy is a basic standard of integrity for all SU Foundation activities.

Information Collection and Use

If you visit our Web site and do not voluntarily enter your contact information, the SU Foundation does not track personal information about you such as your name and e-mail address. If you volunteer to provide information about yourself to make an online gift or change your address, the SU Foundation will securely record that information for internal administrative purposes only.  There are occasions when we will ask for additional information from you. We do this to better understand and respond to your needs and to provide you with services that may be valuable to you. For example, when you ask a question or update your record through the SU Foundation website, we ask you for some personal information. We use this information to deliver to you the best advice and highest quality service as well as offers that we think may be relevant to you. We may also contact you regarding a website problem or other customer service-related issues. Personal information is also required when you make an online gift. The information you provide to us will be used for the purpose of crediting you correctly for your gift. We do track how many visits our site receives, the average time users spend per page, and other general, non-personally identifiable information about how visitors are using the site.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

The SU Foundation does not sell personal information collected through its website. Information obtained (vs. collected) through online surveys is used exclusively by the SU Foundation. The SU Foundation website has two locations where visitors can voluntarily enter their contact information.  First, the "Update Your Contact Information" is where you can update your mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address so that the SU Foundation can stay in contact with you.  Second, the "Make a Gift" section is where you can designate a credit card gift to the SU Foundation. The SU Foundation enters the information you provide - excluding your credit card number - into our secure donor database so that we have your gift history or change of address record.

Usage Tracking

We monitor how you use our website including search terms you enter, pages visited, and documents viewed. Web usage and non-personally identifiable information is used to help us understand areas for future research and to evaluate how well our web pages are reaching and serving the needs of our visitors.

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of computer code that enables web servers to "identify" visitors. The SU Foundation website uses cookies only for authentication purposes.

Links to Other Sites

The SU Foundation website contains links to other websites. Please be aware that the SU Foundation is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our sites and to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by the SU Foundation website.

Security

The SU Foundation provides its donors with a secure online experience. To do this, we use a variety of security measures to maintain the safety and confidentiality of personal information about you. All user registration information is contained behind a firewall and is accessible only by a limited number of employees who have special access rights to our systems. Confidential personal information sent to us is transmitted using Secure Socket Layer technology. This information is then encrypted in our secure database. The database is further protected behind a firewall. This online giving process is PCI Compliant (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). If you have any questions about the security of our websites, please send an e-mail to info@sufoundation.org.
